Midsummer – in fact, all of the summer – in Swedish Lapland is absolutely magical, a celebration of life and love in the subdued hues of the never-setting sun, rooted in pagan origins. The light is truly special throughout Sweden; but nothing will beat it in its northernmost reaches, Swedish Lapland. It’s no wonder that it’s here that many artists and designers find inspiration – with boundless nature, the seasons, and their contrasts and traditions that will tell a hundred stories, both folklore and visual. I was commissioned by the Swedish Tourist Board to head out into the great, wild North to record what I found.
